In 2009, both York University and the Gairdner Foundation will be celebrating their 50 th anniversaries. To celebrate, York and Gairdner will co-host a symposium focused on biomedical science, entrepreneurship and commercialization. The symposium will bring together Gairdner Award winning scientist entrepreneurs, and representatives of Canadian venture capital firms, the biomedical industry sector, and policy makers / government. The symposium will activate dialogue about the commercialization of science / technology and inform discussion about policy related to entrepreneurship.
Date: May 14, 2009. Times: 1:00 pm - 5:00 pm. Onsite Registration opens at 12:00 pm.

Dr. Michael Hayden, Canada Research Chair in Human Genetics & Molecular Medicine, UBC. Exceptional academic scientist in molecular genetics, discoverer of the gene for Huntington's disease among many accomplishments. Entrepreneur and founder of three biotechnology companies. Member of the Gairdner Foundation Medical Advisory Board. Michael Hayden was the 2008 recipient of the Canadian Institutes of Health Research Researcher of the Year.
