The Gairdner Foundation Awards Announcement

Each year we announce the winners of the Canada Gairdner Awards for medical research at a luncheon - and invite one of them to discuss their work and its implications.  This year marks the 50th anniversary of the Gairdner's which have grown to be one of the most prestigious awards in all of science; indeed, one in four recipients goes on to win the Nobel Prize.

This year, we are having two of the seven 2009 Canada Gairdner recipients speak at the announcement luncheon.

They are: Dr. Richard Losick, Cabot Professor of Biology at Harvard, who will talk to us about How we and our planet are shaped by an invisible world of microbes; and Dr. David Sackett, Professor Emeritus of Clinical Epidemiology and Biostatistics at McMaster, who will tell us about "Helping smart doctors stop prescribing dumb treatments."

So please consider this your invitation to hear Richard Losick and David Sackett tell the inside stories behind their ground-breaking work and its impact on all of us - on Tuesday, March 31 in the Queen Victoria Ballroom, at the Sutton Place Hotel at the corner of Bay and Wellesley in Toronto.

We begin with drinks at 11:45 a.m. followed by luncheon at 12:15 p.m., and everyone excitedly on their way by 1:59 p.m.  The cost is $60.00, or if you'd like to put together a group of friends and colleagues, you can reserve a table of 10 for $600.

Please register for the Luncheon by logging on to: http://www.ramsayinc.com/html/lunches.html and booking online. Your payment will be processed automatically and you will be e-mailed a confirmation.
