We celebrate biomedical science across Canada.

Our 10-day National Program connects Gairdner winners to the current and emerging generation of Canadian researchers – and anyone else who is interested. Gairdner recipients lecture to over 6,000 people at over 20 universities across Canada every year.

Science can be intimidating to teenage students. That is why Gairdner, through its High School Outreach Program, asks laureates to share their personal stories of pursuing a career in research with students from over 120 schools.

The Canada Gairdner International Awards are quite unique in that the presentation of the awards is just one facet of an extraordinary annual program, which includes symposia on cutting edge biomedical research and public outreach and education activities across Canada.

Gairdner has created a wonderful forum that enriches the international scientific dialogue, reinforces scientific and cultural alliances, and promotes grass roots participation in the scientific enterprise.
