Dr. Arinjay Banerjee is a Principal Scientist at the Vaccine and Infectious Disease Organization (VIDO) at the University of Saskatchewan, where he leads the Laboratory of Zoonotic Viruses and Comparative Immunology.

His research focuses on virus-host interactions in wildlife reservoirs, such as bats, and spillover species, including humans, with a particular emphasis on coronaviruses. 

Dr. Banerjee completed his Ph.D. at the University of Saskatchewan in 2018, earning the Governor General’s Gold Medal for his doctoral thesis on bat-coronavirus interactions.  He pursued postdoctoral training at McMaster University and served as a visiting scientist at the University of Toronto during the COVID-19 pandemic. In recognition of his contributions to virology and One Health, Dr. Banerjee received the University of Saskatchewan's One to Watch Award in 2024.
