Dr. Laura Arbour is a Professor in the Department of Medical Genetics at the University of British Columbia, based at the Island Medical Program in Victoria, BC.

She also holds an affiliate professorship in the Division of Biomedical Sciences at the University of Victoria.  Trained as both a pediatrician and clinical geneticist, Dr. Arbour's research focuses on the genetic aspects of Indigenous health, emphasizing equitable access to genomic diagnostics and care.  She leads the Community Genetics Research Program at the University of Victoria and is the project lead for "Silent Genomes," a national initiative aimed at reducing healthcare disparities for Indigenous children with genetic diseases.
