Professor Anna Lartey is a distinguished nutritionist with a career spanning academia, research, and international organizations. Currently an adjunct Professor of Nutrition at the University of Ghana, she previously dedicated nearly 30 years to the university, with her research focusing on maternal and child nutrition. From 2013 to 2020, she served as the Director of Nutrition at the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) in Rome, Italy. She was also the President of the International Union of Nutritional Sciences (IUNS) from 2013 to 2017.

Dr. Lartey has been widely recognized for her contributions to the field. Her numerous recognitions include: Sight and Life Nutrition Leadership Award (2014), African Nutrition Society Award for Distinguished Services to Nutrition (2014), Doctor of Science, honoris causa, from McGill University (2018), International Union of Nutritional Sciences Lifetime Achievement Award for outstanding contributions to nutrition (2022), African Nutrition Society's Nevin Scrimshaw Award for scholarship, distinguished service, and global leadership (2024)

She holds a doctoral degree from the University of California, Davis, where she was a Fulbright student. She also earned her master's and bachelor's degrees from the University of Guelph and University of Ottawa, respectively. Dr. Lartey is a member of several international and national boards.
