I am a researcher passionate about the challenges of improving maternal and child health, particularly in rural and remote areas of sub-Saharan Africa. Interventional research and health systems research are my areas of expertise. For the past 15 years, my projects have primarily focused on the issues of access to healthcare, and on programmatic interventions to reduce malaria transmission, improve vaccination coverage, or reduce barriers to health services utilization among vulnerable populations. My methods of predilection combine impact evaluation, natural experiments and process analysis to better assess changes attributable to programs under routine conditions of implementation. In collaboration with many partners, I currently lead an interdisciplinary, mixed methods research project to measure and understand the repercussions of the insecurity on child and maternal health in several Sahelian countries.
