Gairdner Connects the Next Generation at the 2025 Student Networking Lunch
The annual Gairdner Science Week Student Networking Lunch returned on October 23, offering students a unique chance to connect directly with some of the world’s most influential scientists.
Held immediately after the 2025 Laureate Lectures at MaRS Discovery District, the lunch brought together high school, undergraduate and graduate students, as well as trainees from our partner organizations including University of Toronto, York University, Let's Talk Science, and The Knowledge Society.
This year’s gathering created an open, energizing space for students to speak one-on-one with leading researchers. Across the room, tables buzzed with discussion ranging from scientific discovery and career pathways to personal stories about resilience, curiosity and collaboration. Laureates and ECIs generously shared advice, answered questions and encouraged students to pursue bold ideas of their own.
Thank you to all our partners for supporting this event, and to the students whose enthusiasm and insight made the room come alive. Take a look through the digital booklet from the Frontiers for Young Minds 2025 Canada Gairdner Awards Collection, which explains the work of each 2025 Gairdner Award laureate.
